New to FPL
How Fantasy Premier League works. The whole game in two minutes.
£100.0m to spend, two goalkeepers, five defenders, five midfielders and three forwards. No more than three from any one club.
Only your starting eleven score. If a starter doesn’t play, a substitute is swapped in automatically, so bench order matters before you have even watched a match.
Playing earns 1–2. Goals earn 4–6 depending on position, assists 3, a clean sheet 4 for a defender or goalkeeper. Defensive work now scores too. See DefCon below.
The single biggest call you make each week. Pick the wrong one and a good gameweek becomes an average one. The vice-captain takes over if your captain doesn’t play.
Unused ones roll up, to a limit. Any transfer beyond your free ones costs 4 points, which is roughly a goal, so a “minus 4” has to pay for itself.
Wildcard rebuilds the squad for free, Free Hit does it for one week only, Bench Boost scores your bench too, Triple Captain trebles instead of doubles. They reset at the halfway point.
Ninety minutes before the first match of the gameweek. Nothing can be changed after it. Not your captain, not your bench, nothing.
New-ish, and the cheapest points in the game. A defender making 10 clearances, blocks, interceptions and tackles in a match earns +2; a midfielder or forward needs 12 of those plus ball recoveries. Capped at +2 each.
